This exhibition has been haunting me. When I found out it finished today, it was my agenda to see it!
So, yesterday, to the Saatchi gallery I went!
It was everything I expected it to be and more, and most definitely my number one exhibition so far.
Karl is an amazing man and after seeing this, one of my favourite photographers. He captured the beauty and charisma of each of the models. The models, icons themselves, consisted of actors, dancers and models.
Chanel, The Little Black Jacket, portrayed what fashion represents. Stylist Carine Roitfeld's clear talent and creativity, along with Karls shots worked in perfect matrimony. From men to women Chanel seems to suit everyone, and Roitfeld's creations showed that one classic piece can appear brand new every time with just a little imagination. The exhibition represented what fashion and Chanel as a brand is about. Style, collaboration, passion, beauty, fun, but most importantly that underlining innovation that Karl has continued and Coco herself dared to start.
The images printed half tone and mostly in monochrome added to that feeling of the classic and the timeless, which Chanel represents to me.
What made the exhibition that little bit special was the distribution of one free poster per visitor. Which meant having the boyf with me paid off. So I now have two. These for sure will be framed and treasured.
